Who We Are
The Norton County Horse Council is a group of community-minded, salt-of-the-earth individuals who come together to preserve the Western traditions that shaped our way of life. We donate our time, energy, and resources to support local events, youth riders, and the values rooted in ranching, rodeo, and rural community life.
We’re proud to support and partner with programs like 4-H and FFA, helping young people develop confidence, responsibility, and horsemanship through hands-on experience. Whether it's supporting an open horse show, or cheering on kids at their first team penning, we believe in giving back to the next generation.
But we don’t stop there—our calendar is also filled with ranch rodeos, ropings, breakaway series, and community events that bring families together to compete, connect, and celebrate our shared heritage. These events keep the cowboy spirit alive and well across all generations.
This isn’t just something we do on weekends — this is who we are.
Meet the Volunteer Board
“We’re not just putting on rodeos and jackpots — we’re preserving a way of life. Every time someone hauls in, helps set up, or cheers from the fence, they’re part of something bigger than themselves. That’s what the Norton County Horse Council is all about.” - Cole Remington, NCHC President
Our Mission
The Norton County Horse Council exists to preserve and promote the Western way of life by supporting local events, fostering horsemanship across all ages, and strengthening community ties through education, competition, and shared tradition. We are committed to cultivating the next generation of riders through 4-H and FFA, while also providing meaningful opportunities for adults to stay connected to their roots through ropings, ranch rodeos, and community gatherings.

Our Core Values
1. Preserve the Western Tradition
We honor the grit, values, and lifestyle passed down through generations of ranchers and riders. From youth team pennings to ranch rodeos, we celebrate and protect the culture that built our communities.
2. Community First
We’re here for each other. Whether we’re organizing an event, setting up panels, or cheering for the last rider out, our success is built on strong local partnerships and small-town support.
3. All Generations Welcome
We believe horsemanship is a lifelong pursuit. From 4-H and FFA kids learning the ropes to seasoned ropers chasing daylight in the arena, we create inclusive opportunities for all ages to learn, grow, and ride.
